The following non-profits are organizations I feel strongly about and support:
For nearly 15 years, Just Food has been connecting New York City residents of all economic backgrounds with local, sustainable food and the farmers who grow it. We are dedicated to building a robust local-family farm economy and growing healthier citizens—all while shrinking our collective environmental footprint. Our programs include: CSA in NYC, creating farm to city partnerships; City Farms, growing, marketing and distributing garden fresh produce; Community Food Education, teaching every New Yorker to cook and eat well; Fresh Food For All, bringing farm fresh produce to NYC’s most vulnerable residents; Food Justice, encouraging all New Yorkers to advocate for change.
Share Our Strength® is a national organization working to make sure no kid in America grows up hungry. We weave together a net of community groups, activists and food programs to catch children at risk of hunger, and surround them with nutritious food where they live, learn and play. We work with the culinary industry to create engaging, pioneering programs like Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation®, Share Our Strength’s Great American Bake Sale®, Share Our Strength’s A Tasteful Pursuit®, Share Our Strength’s Great American Dine Out™, and Share Our Strength’s Operation Frontline www.strength.org
